North Iowa American Legion Riders News

       We had our June meeting on June 8th we had 19 members & 2 guests present.

    We have 59 members.

    We have 36 supporting businesses; welcome Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.

  We have some bad news Marshall Korte told the group he has stage 4 cancer in his back and is no longer able to work or ride, he will be having surgery in Rochester on Wed. June 14th to try to relieve some of the pressure on his neck, please remember him in your prayers.

   We will have guests from Retrieving Freedom at our July meeting to talk about the program.

   We had a good turnout for the Clarion Parade but the wind and heat made for a hard ride home, the wind blew out the pilot light in my bike and we had to haul it home on a trailer Cedar River Harley is trying to relight it.

   Sat. June 17th will be the Trent Smith Remembrance Ride sign in at The Hide Away in Ionia at 9:00 AM.

    June 17th there will be fireworks to honor Veterans at the park in Rudd at dusk.

   Sun. June 18th will be the booth at the McIntire Tractor & Truck pull, the pulling starts at 10:00 AM this year.

   Sat June 24th will be the parade & booth at Water over the dam days in Nashua, parade starts at 10:00 AM we will meet at Casey’s in Nashua at 9:00 and move to the starting point at 9:30 AM.

     We have been invited to the Rod & Gun Club in Chester on Sun. July 2nd at 1:00 PM, bring your guns & fishing poles if you want to.

      July 4th is the Parade in Osage & the Gun raffle at Dale’s BBQ after the parade, meet at Dale’s at 9:00 AM and please bring a side dish for the BBQ.

      We will visit to the Vets Home in Marshalltown on July 9th we need to be there at 1:30 PM and there will be a tour and time with the Veterans( no rides)

   We have been given some wall space for the Legion Riders display at the Post so we need a new group picture. I will try to set a time & place that will work for everyone.

   I have the 2018 membership cards, dues are due July 1st. Now is the time to invite new members.

   If you have not updated your driver’s license and insurance information please do so see Hal Kelleher, we no longer need copy’s we just need to see them.

 Also if you change your address, phone number or email address please let me know.

    Our Next meeting will be July 13th 2017 at 7:00 PM with dinner at 6:30 PM at the Post, dinner will be cold cuts.
